             The Regional office of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Bhubaneswar plays pivotal role in information dissemination particularly in rural, semi-urban areas and gives special attention to those areas, which have poor mass media penetration. It inculcates information to the people of all the thirty districts of Odisha and widens their awareness level on a wide variety of themes of social relevance such as health, education, rural development, women empowerment, welfare of minorities and marginalized sections of society, Child Rights, Environment protection , Water conservation, Right to Information, Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and other schemes and policies which are decided by the competent authority from time to time.

     The Regional Office of DFP, Odisha is located in the state capital Bhubaneswar and has been functioning since 1st April 1958. The Odisha Region of DFP has nine Field Units and each Unit inculcates information to the people varying from 1-5 districts of Odisha. These nine units are located in Baleswar, Baripada, Brahmapur(Berhampur), Bhawanipatna,Jayapur(Jeypore), Keonjhar, Puri, Phulbani and Sambalpur. The field units of DFP, Bhubaneswar have been publicizing all the centrally sponsored public welfare schemes and creating large-scale awareness at the grass-root level throughout the state. These units organise their routine and special publicity programmes especially in rural, far-flung remote areas and presently in Left wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. These units use various means of inter-personal communication like Seminar, Symposia, Group Discussion, Rally, Elocution, Film-show, Photo-exhibition and different kinds of sports activities to create awareness and ensure greater public participation in all publicity programmes associated with developmental activities.


The DFP Ofisha region organised a regional level workshop on the flagship programmes of the NDA government on 13.06.2017 in Bhubaneswar. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh. Jual Oram, Hon’ble Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India by lighting the traditional lamp. Other dignitaries cum Resource Persons present in the workshop were namely, Dr. Sarada Prasanna Mohanty, General Manager, RBI, Bhubaneswar, Sh. Gourang Charana Bisoi, Manager, RBI, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Rajesh Das, Chief Statistician, Dept. of Agriculture and Food Production:, Govt. of Odisha: Sh. Susant Mishra, Joint Mission Director, Odisha Urban Housing Mission, Govt. of Odisha, Dr. Manoranjan Sahu, MO (AYUSH), Directorate of AYUSH, Govt. of Odisha and Dr. Santanu Rath, DDG (AIR-Prog) Retd. Prasar Bharati. The workshop was organized prior to the upcoming Special Outreach Programmes (SOP) 2017-18 to be held in different parts of the state by all the field publicity units of the region. The workshop was attended by all field communicators and staff of DFP Odisha region, some NGOs and media persons to get the detail information on the themes presented on the occasion namely Digi Dhan Abhijan , Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Beti Bacao Beti Padhao, Yoga: The essence of life . However, The DFP Units namely Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar and Balaosre organised one each Special Outreach programme (SOP) 2017-18 on the International Day of Yoga on 21.06.2017 in Rupra GP village under Narla block of Kalahandi dist., Toranipokhari village under Ghatagaon block of Keonjhar dist. and Pakhra village under Soro block of Balasore dist. respectively. Hundreds of targeted participants across the society had taken part in these three special programmes. During the day long programme the participants were made aware on Yoga; the secret of life, Digi dhan, Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Abhijan , Beti Bachao Beti Padhao the relevant resource persons. The programmes were followed by a quiz contest where in the winners were awarded with attractive utility prizes by the respective host units to fillip the programme, photo exhibitions, group discussions, video film shows, village rallies, folk shows. the SOP s were attended by the local ASHAs, AWWs, PRI Members also. Smt. Droupadi Dandpat, Ghantgaon block Chairperson had gracessed the programme held in Toranipokhari villge. on 22.6.17 However the berhampur unit organised a two day SOP on Flafship programmes of central govt. on 28 and 29.06.2017 in Sunnareddi village under patrapur block of ganjam district. Sh. Hrishikesh Panirgahi, AD Cum Programme Head of AIR Berhampur was the Chief Guest on this occassion. Local folk dance and song troups were depolyed by the units to present cultural programmes on the said themes. Besides, the Berhampur unit observed the 3rd International Day of Yoga on 21.06.17 in a primary health centre (PHC) situated in village under Purusottampur block of Ganjam district with the support of a folk song & dance troupe of song & drama division ( S&DD) of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting , Kolkata region, Govt. of India. Dr.Rabindranath Gantayat, MO(AYUSH) had cordinated the programme. Apart to the presentation of yoga, group discussion, video film show, group discussion, quiz contest, prize distribution were also held to mark the day by Berhampur unit.Later in the day, the unit took part in the village Palli Sabha and also addressed the gathering to practice yoga, asans and panayams for non medicinal and non treatment methods of any diseses.
