             The Regional office of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Bhubaneswar plays pivotal role in information dissemination particularly in rural, semi-urban areas and gives special attention to those areas, which have poor mass media penetration. It inculcates information to the people of all the thirty districts of Odisha and widens their awareness level on a wide variety of themes of social relevance such as health, education, rural development, women empowerment, welfare of minorities and marginalized sections of society, Child Rights, Environment protection , Water conservation, Right to Information, Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and other schemes and policies which are decided by the competent authority from time to time.



     The Regional Office of DFP, Odisha is located in the state capital Bhubaneswar and has been functioning since 1st April 1958. The Odisha Region of DFP has nine Field Units and each Unit inculcates information to the people varying from 1-5 districts of Odisha. These nine units are located in Baleswar, Baripada, Brahmapur(Berhampur), Bhawanipatna,Jayapur(Jeypore), Keonjhar, Puri, Phulbani and Sambalpur. The field units of DFP, Bhubaneswar have been publicizing all the centrally sponsored public welfare schemes and creating large-scale awareness at the grass-root level throughout the state. These units organise their routine and special publicity programmes especially in rural, far-flung remote areas and presently in Left wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. These units use various means of inter-personal communication like Seminar, Symposia, Group Discussion, Rally, Elocution, Film-show, Photo-exhibition and different kinds of sports activities to create awareness and ensure greater public participation in all publicity programmes associated with developmental activities.

 

Highlights
 
During February 2017 Berhampur unit under Orissa region organised awareness programmes on health and sanitation, gender equality and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in different schools of Berhampur town.
DFP, Jeypore Unit disseminated information on Youth Development, Skill Development,livelihood,Mother and Child health, RTI among the volunteers of Neheru Yuva Kendra,Koraput
Phulbani Unit also disseminated important information on the importance and role of communication among the volunteers of Neheru Yuva Kendra,Phulbani
In the month of March,17 Units namely Berhampur,Samblapur and Phulbani observed the Swachh Shakti Saptah on 08.03.17 to mark the international Women's Day with different forms of activities. Berhampur unit organised a special programme in Govt.Upgraded High School,Chodungapur under Kashinagar block of Gajapati dist while Phulbani unit organised quiz contests in Sarangada and Kurukaska villages under k.Nuagaon and Chakapada block of Kondhamal dist. Similarly, Sambalpur unit organised a special programme on the occasion of International Women's day in Kukudapalli village of Sambalpur dist on 07.03.17 on the eve of Swachh Shakti Saptah-17. Balasore and Jeypore unit took part in the special programms held on International Women's Day. Nehru Yuva Kendra Ganjam dist. awarded Berhampur unit for organising best photo exhibition during the Dist.Youth Convention and Yuva Kirti Samman progm held on 17.03.17 in Berhampur. Baripad and Phulbani unit took part in the observance of World Consumer Day held on 15.03.17. Berhampur and Bhawanipatna unit attended as Resource Agency in the Youth Leadership and Community Development training programme of youth volunteers organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Ganjam and Kalahandi district. Besides, Berhampur unit took part in the Aakashwani Kishan Diwas orgd by All India Radio Berhampur station on 16.03.17 in Sunareddy village under Partapur block of Ganjam district where in the unit shared the information on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and National Horticulture Mission among the participated farmers.
