             The Regional office of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Bhubaneswar plays pivotal role in information dissemination particularly in rural, semi-urban areas and gives special attention to those areas, which have poor mass media penetration. It inculcates information to the people of all the thirty districts of Odisha and widens their awareness level on a wide variety of themes of social relevance such as health, education, rural development, women empowerment, welfare of minorities and marginalized sections of society, Child Rights, Environment protection , Water conservation, Right to Information, Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and other schemes and policies which are decided by the competent authority from time to time.

     The Regional Office of DFP, Odisha is located in the state capital Bhubaneswar and has been functioning since 1st April 1958. The Odisha Region of DFP has nine Field Units and each Unit inculcates information to the people varying from 1-5 districts of Odisha. These nine units are located in Baleswar, Baripada, Brahmapur(Berhampur), Bhawanipatna,Jayapur(Jeypore), Keonjhar, Puri, Phulbani and Sambalpur. The field units of DFP, Bhubaneswar have been publicizing all the centrally sponsored public welfare schemes and creating large-scale awareness at the grass-root level throughout the state. These units organise their routine and special publicity programmes especially in rural, far-flung remote areas and presently in Left wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. These units use various means of inter-personal communication like Seminar, Symposia, Group Discussion, Rally, Elocution, Film-show, Photo-exhibition and different kinds of sports activities to create awareness and ensure greater public participation in all publicity programmes associated with developmental activities.


The Field Publicity Units of the DFP Odisha region organised suitable publicity programmes on various welfare schemes of the govt. of India in their respective field jurisdictions falling both in urban as well as rural areas of the state in the month of April,2017. To get more response, all the units of the region appealed to the masses during the field visits to make success the 2nd April Pulse Polio Immunization day. The Berhampur unit of DFP Odisha region organised special audio-visual programme on Prime Minister’s Maan Ki Baat “ in Dashpur under Ganjam district on 28.04.17. Units namely, Bhawanipatna and Baripada organised special programmes to observe the World Health Day on 07.04.2017. Besides, focusing on various health related issues, the units gave more emphasis on this year’s theme titled “Depression: Let's have talk…” Activities like symposium, group discussion, quiz contest, film shows etc. were taken in the action during the progrmmes. Bhawanipatna unit organised programme in Kashpla village under Narla block of Kalahandi district , while Baripada unit organised the programe on health day in Raruan block hqrs. of Moyurbhanj district. Besides, Phulbani and Baripada unit actively took part in the programmes held on the themes titled ‘ National Safe Motherhood Day on 11.04.2017 and Save the Girl Child” by the Zila Swasthya Samiti, Kondhamal. baripada unit also took part in aprogramme titled safe motherhood day held on 11.4.17 in Champajharan village under Thakurmunda block of Moyurbhanja district of Odisha. Similarly, Phulbani unit and also actively took part in the World Malaria Day programme organised by the Zilla Swasthya Samitis of the respective Kondhamal and Moyurbhanj districts. on 25.04.2017. Besides, Berhampur unit organised one special exhibition, with the request of ,Swami Chidananda Educational and Charitable Trust, on various welfare schemes of central govt. in a special eye camp on 18.04.17 in Panthikhari village under Jagannathpur block of Ganjam district
